Mike Bolsover

    Mike Bolsover is the managing director and CEO of Silver Heritage. Mike was born in Hong Kong, and educated in England and United States. Mike has an in depth understanding of Asian gaming operations and previously worked for online gaming operator Victor Chandler in the trading and business development departments from 1999 to 2003.Mike became an executive director of Silver Heritage in 2005 and was appointed CEO in 2008. In 2015, Mike was voted one of Asia’s Top 50 most influential people in the Asian gaming industry. Mike is also a member of the 2016 Class of 40 under 50 and received a G2E Emerging Leader Scholarship in conjunction with Innovation Group. He holds a degree in Finance and Marketing from Emory University in Atlanta GA, USA.

    Tiger Palace nears opening as Nepal’s casino sector stirs

    Nepal’s casino sector appears finally to be poised for expansion, with new properties opening and foreign investors entering the market, drawn by the lure of untapped demand in neighboring India and increased business traffic. The industry is one of the oldest in Asia, but has been through a transitional period, with new international standard gaming regulations introduced in 2013 and with the country hit by an earthquake and temporary border issues in 2015. However, the picture is brightening and will soon have its first international standard IR.

    Foreign investors return as Nepal’s economy rebounds

    Nepal’s economy is forecast to grow at the fastest pace in 20 years in 2017, with tourism arrivals also recovering, helping to attract foreign investment into its casino sector. Foreign investors are now moving back into the country and the casino sector. During the Nepal Investment Summit  in March a total of $13.7 billion was pledged in foreign direct investment, with the bulk from China. About $10 million was earmarked for tourism and casinos are reopening. 

    Nepal sees recovery amidst improved regulation, rise in tourism

    Nepal’s casino industry is recovering from a series of deadly earthquakes and a temporary border blockade with India last year, with international casino operators increasingly eyeing the market as a way to tap potential from neighboring India. Visitor numbers to the Himalayan nation by air jumped 12.77 percent in the first half of this year to 313,512, compared with about 277,992 visitors in the same period last year. In the first half of 2014, tourist arrivals had reached 412,461. 

    Local operators criticise new bill for locals ban, fees

    Nepal has proposed new regulations to tighten oversight of its casinos, just five years after passing legislation to govern the sector, though some local operators have expressed disappointment at a ban on locals and high fees.
