Solaire shines with Sky Tower, though market lead seen passing to COD

The November opening of Solaire Resort and Casino’s new $450 million Phase 1A expansion, including its centrepiece Sky Tower, crowned an impressive year for the first integrated resort in Manila’s Entertainment City. Less than two years after launch in March 2013, it has become the largest casino in the country with a share of 29.4 percent, according to Citigroup research. But with Melco Crown Entertainment’s City of Dreams now up and running and two more integrated resorts slated to open in the next two years, Solaire may struggle to keep its current lead. The latest phase in Solaire’s expansion aims to boost the resort’s non-gaming amenities and has a strong VIP focus. The Sky Tower houses a 312-room five-star boutique hotel tower, with suites ranging from 124 square meters to as large as 936 meters.
