Delta Daman property delay raises revenue concern

Delta Corp, India’s leading gaming company, continues to face delays in opening a casino at its luxury integrated resort in Daman, raising concern over the operator’s revenue prospects and dampening hopes for land-based gaming in the country. Casinos are only legal in three Indian states — Goa, Sikkim and Daman — with Goa taking the lion’s share of the market at about 95 percent. Delta Corp dominates the sector and recorded gaming revenue of about $41 million last year, representing about half of total revenues from the business. Delta Corp presently runs two offshore casinos in Goa called the Deltin Royale and Deltin JAQK. It also has the license to run a third in the coastal state — another offshore casino boat called the Deltin Caravela — which has also yet to start operations, a company spokesperson confirmed.
