Vietnamese locals to enter casinos from Dec 1

Vietnamese locals will finally be able to gamble at selected casinos in the country starting from next month, according to local media reports.

The Circular, issued by the Ministry of Finance last week, states that a Vietnamese citizen may be permitted to enter a casino if they show a minimum income of VND10 million (US$440), with the new rules set to come into effect on December 1, 2017, according to Vietnam News.

The circular also stipulates that enterprises must open books or issue electronic cards to keep track of people who are allowed to enter the casino, amongst other record keeping requirements.

While Vietnamese citizens already received the green light to gamble in local casinos earlier this year, local residents have yet to set foot into any gaming venue due to lack of a guiding circular.

The circular also did not clarify which casinos will be allowed to take in locals.

There are currently seven operating in the country.
