Twelve companies bid for Queensland casino licenses

Twelve companies, including Echo Entertainment, Crown, Lend Lease, China’s Greenland Holdings and SkyCity Entertainment have paid $100,000 to lodge a formal expression of interest in bidding for a casino license in Queensland, Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney told parliament. Six consortiums were interested in a project in Brisbane with six looking elsewhere.  China-Australia Entrepreneurs Consortium wants a casino at Airlie Beach, Fullshare International is looking south of Proserpine, and GKI Resort is interested in Great Keppel Island. A short-list of bidders will be selected by the middle of the year before detailed proposals are lodged in late 2014.
