Tabcorp has been found guilty of illegally luring punters to open new accounts through promotions published both online and in print, SBC News reports.
The promotion, published in August 2015, offered bonus bets and other rewards as inducements. The company was brought to court for publishing ads tempting NSW residents with inducements to gamble or open betting accounts.
The wagering giant came under fire last month after the Advertising Standards Board (ASB) claimed its latest TV advertisement for the TAB mobile app depicted excessive gambling in a positive light.
Tabcorp has requested an independent review of the case.
