Sydney high-roller Hoang on trial in Melbourne court

Sydney-based high-roller Pete Hoang has gone on trial in Melbourne’s Magistrates Court for allegedly dealing in the proceeds of crime through his gambling in the city’s Crown Casino, according to media reports. The court heard how the casino paid for Hoang and his friends to fly from Sydney, put them up in a luxury villa at the casino and provided food and drinks, as well as paying out thousands of dollars in commissions for the money gambled.
Hoang received $6,500 for every $1 million he turned over at Crown. On one occasion he arrived at the casino with $75,000 in cash and recorded a turnover of more than $13 million.
