Melco teams with Dreamworks for Manila project

Melco Crown is opening an “Edutainment” centre in a venture with Dreamworks Animation at its City of Dreams resort in Manila. “DreamPlay by DreamWorks” mixes education with entertainment using Dreamworks characters, such as Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and the team from Madagascar. The company claims the concept, which will open along with the resort later this year, will be the first of its kind in the world. “Harnessing leading digital technologies, this attraction is going to be unlike anything that currently exists and will undoubtedly become a new type of destination for families, both in the Philippines and across the rapidly growing leisure-destination markets of Asia,” said Paul Kurzawa, Head of Global Retail Development & Entertainment, DreamWorks Animation said. The company says its City of Dreams project is on track to open in October this year, becoming the third integrated resort in Manila’s Entertainment Bay complex. The company earlier announced that the City of Dreams will also include a Nobu-branded hotel.
