Macau Chief Executive candidate, incumbent Chui Sai On, says the government will see how to make gaming operators responsible for their non-local workers’ accommodation and transportation arrangements as part of his political platform announcement, local press reported. “To study an arrangement to spell out the social responsibility and role that should be adopted by the gaming corporations namely in what regards accommodation and transportation for non-resident workers”, Mr. Chui said, TDM reported. He also reiterated that only Macau residents are eligible for croupier positions. However the government cannot make this promise a legal provision, as it is not proper to legislate for one single type of work, the candidate added. Chui underlined that authorities will continue to keep a close watch on the operations of the gaming industry, and strive to make Macau a world tourism and leisure center.
