Macau suspicious transactions fell 13.3 percent in 2013

    The number of suspicious transactions reported to Macau’s Financial Intelligence Office fell 13.3 percent in 2013, with reports from gaming companies making up 71.3 percent of the total.
    There was a total of 1,138 reports regarding the gambling sector, down from 1,328 the previous year, the report said.
    A total of 147 suspicious transactions were sent to the Public Prosecution Office for further investigation.
    The number of complaints involving financial institutions meanwhile fell to 457 from 510 in 2012.
    Macau recorded record gambling revenue in 2013, with a gain of 18.6 percent to $45.2 billion. The government gets more than 80 percent of its revenue from the sector.
