Macau Q2 GGR gains 5.5 percent

Gross gambling revenue in Macau rose 5.5 percent in the three months to end June, driven by the mass market, according to the gambling regulator.
GGR was MOP90.9 billion ($11.4 billion) in the second quarter of 2014.
Revenue from mass-market baccarat increased by 35.3 percent year-on-year to MOP28 billion. The VIP segment fell by 5.8 percent year-on-year to MOP54.6 billion, according to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
The share of VIP baccarat has dropped to 60.1 percent in the second quarter, declining in importance from 67.3 percent in the same quarter of last year. The higher margin mass segment made up about 40 percent of the market.
GGR fell 3.7 percent in June in the first year-on-year drop in five years, hurt in part by the distraction of the World Cup, though analysts are predicting another drop for July.
