Macau operators 17Q4 results confirm mass surge

With all six of Macau’s gaming concessionaires having reported their 17Q4 results, the data shows a continued strength in mass market gaming, say Union Gaming analysts.

According to the compiled operator data, mass tables grew at 18.1 percent in 17Q4, while VIP grew at 22 percent.

Union Gaming however noted that mass and slots still accounted for the majority of GGR – taking up a total of 52 percent of GGR in the market.

“That mass market maintains remains robust bodes well for the gaming equities, particularly those that straddle both mass market and resurgent VIP,” said Union Gaming.

The brokerage added in the note on Thursday that it expects slightly higher VIP growth relative to mass this year.
