Macau gaming revenue hits new record in Feb.

    Macau’s February gaming revenue jumped 40.3 percent year-on-year to a record MOP38 billion, topping forecasts for growth of between 30-35 percent. According to UBS Securities, revenue in January and February combined, which nets out the disruptive effects of Chinese New Year, revenue gained 23.7 percent, which is also higher than expectations. Gaming operators noted that the boom in CNY activities lasted well into the second and third week compared with the usual pattern for a boom lasting for one week. It estimates that for Jan-Feb combined, VIP revenues grew 18-22 percent, and mass/ slot revenues grew 30-33 percent.
