Huiyin Household signs China Welfare Lottery contract

Yangzhou Huiyin Household Appliance Group, a unit of Hong Kong-listed Huiyin Household Appliance (Holdings) said it has entered a lottery sales agreement with the
Jiangsu Provincial Welfare Lottery Issuing Centre.
Under the accord, Yangzhou Huiyin will be able to sell welfare lottery tickets through its self-operated shops, franchised shops and other distribution channels. The company said it has about 1,659 outlets in the province.
The Welfare Lottery will provide sales terminal equipment and pay the company a sales commission under the three-year agreement. It gave no further financial details.
The group will set up a wholly owned subsidiary – Jiangsu Huiyin Lottery Network Technology Co., Ltd. to run the lottery business.
Meanwhile, China Netcom Technology Holdings recently agreed a deal to provide electronic video lottery terminals (VLT) to the Hainan Provincial Sports Lottery Administration in what it claims is a first for Mainland China.
The company in a statement said it’s the first sports entertainment electronic VLT provider to win an open bid for government procurement in China’s sports lottery market. “Capitalising on our technical strengths, the group will vigorously extend its VLT business presence in other provincial sports lottery markets,” it said.
VLTs have been seen as the domain of the Welfare Lottery.
In 2013, sales of sports lottery tickets in China reached RMB132.8 billion ($21.6 billion), with welfare lotteries taking in RMB176.53 billion. The video lottery “China Welfare Lottery Online” recorded sales of approximately RMB17.014 billion, the company said, with year-on-year growth in Hainan alone of 29 percent.
