Hokkaido governor on Singapore fact-finding mission

Harumi Takahashi, the governor of Hokkaido, has toured Singapore’s casinos and hotels on a fact-finding mission ahead of the potential legalization of the casino industry in Japan, Kyodo reports.
Takahashi viewed baccarat tables and was briefed about casino management, including the process of exchanging cash for tokens.
The city is one of several locations in the country keen to attract casino investment to help boost tourism numbers.
The governor also met Jerry See, chief executive of Singapore’s Casino Regulatory Authority, to discuss controls on casino-related crime and gambling addiction.
Her visit follows a similar tour by the city state’s two casino resorts by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe earlier this year.
