Goans banned from casinos

Goa’s authorities will ban locals from entering the state’s casinos, including those on ships in Goan waters, from March, according to local media reports. Goa’s Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said the state’s gambling act will be amended to make it mandatory for the person entering a casino to prove that he, or she, is a tourist and not Goan. A gaming commissioner will also be appointed to regulate the casino industry. Goa, which is one of the few states in India to allow casinos, has more than 12 destinations located in five-star hotels.
