Former lottery chairman enters Upper House of Parliament

Dr. Subhash Chandra, former chairman of multi-billion dollar business conglomerate Essel Group is to enter the Upper House of the Indian Parliament as an independent candidate with support from BJP and other regional parties, local media reports.

Essel Group is the official distributor of lotteries in Maharashtra, Sikkim and some other states through its brand ‘Playwin’.

The group is also known for its  attempt to establish an offshore casino in Goa.

Essel Group recently launched, which forms part of the Indian Poker Network (IPN) and includes, a rummy site.
