Daily passenger volume to rise 5 pct: Macau airport

International passenger volume at the Macau International Airport is expected to increase by at least five percent year-on-year during the Lunar New Year period, local media reports.

Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. (CAM), the company which manages the airport, said the increase will see nearly 20,000 people passing through the airport everyday.

In order to tackle the busy holiday period, CAM said it would increase the airport’s security check channel and increase security staff by 5 percent.

Earlier this month, MGTO head Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said she estimates the city to see between 944,350 and 963,000 visitors during between February 16 and 22.
