Annual gaming machine expenditure drops

    Gaming machine expenditure in pubs and clubs in the year ended December 2013 dropped 3.4 percent from $839.7 m to $811.5 m, according to figures from the Department of Internal Affairs. There were also fewer license holders, gambling venues and gaming machines compared with 12 months earlier. However, between the third and fourth quarters of 2013 spending rose $684,455, from $206 million at the end of September to $206.7 million at 31 December 2013.
